AUGUST 24,2009 Newark Fire Department transmitted Box 1327 for a fire reported at N.5th Street & Dickerson St. On arrival a heavy smoke condition was showing from the basement of a 3 story wood frame storefront with apartments above. DC Smith transmitted the Signal 11 putting All Hands to work. Lines were stretched to the basement and floors above. The fire was located in the ceiling and walls of the basement area. The fire was quickly brought under control in 20 minutes. EMS treated one smoke victim on scene. | |
