APRIL 21,2009 The City of Newark,NJ transmitted the box for a fire reported at Adams & Delancy Street. On arrival heavy smoke was showing from a 2 story brick commercial building. DC Smith Struck the 2nd Alarm shortly after arrival as heavy smoke and fire was pushing from the 2nd floor. An Emergency Evacuation was ordered followed by the 3rd Alarm as the 2nd floor became fully involved and broke through the roof. A collapse zone was set up as Deck Guns and Ladder pipes were put into operation. A lightning strike apparently struck a flag pole on the building blowing a hole into the second floor. The force blew bricks across the street blowing out windows in a van parked opposite the building. Newark Units operated through out the night into the next shift hitting pockets of fire. | |
