HEAVY FIRE ON ARRIVAL IN IRVINGTON
THREE WOOD FRAMES INVOLVED

The City of Irvington,NJ transmitted the box for a fire reported at 210 Ellis Ave Btwn Springfield & 20th Avenues. On arrival heavy fire was showing from a vacant 2.5 story wood frame extending to Exposure D a 3 story wood frame. The Second Alarm was struck minutes into the fire. A check of the rear of Exposure D revealed several occupants hanging out windows. Maplewood responded on the 2nd Alarm Along with the Irvington last available units. An Urgent request was made for Newark FD to the scene as Exposure D started to light up. Newark FD responded with a Full Assignment consisting of 4 engines and 2 ladder companies. An interior attack was underway in the D Exposure but firefighters were ordered to back out as heavy fire ran all floors and extended to Exposure D2 another 2.5 wood frame dwelling. Master streams operated with several hand lines to knock down the heavy fire. Interior ops then resumed in all buildings to finish up the job. Mutual Aid covered the city during the operation.
