JANUARY 10,2009 The East Orange Fire Department was dispatched to the 410 Prospect Street a large 3 story U shaped apartment building. On arrival of Engine Co.3, smoke was showing from the top floor of the OMD. Engine 3 firefighters had a long stretch through the courtyard and then up to the 3rd floor. Fire was located on both the 2nd and 3rd floors. The fire originated on the 3rd floor and extended down to the 2nd floor ceiling. The fire was quickly knocked down on both floors and companies were in the process of taking up in 20 minutes. During the overhaul of the fire apartment it was discovered a lamp used to grow plants was possibly the cause. Weapons were also discovered including an automatic rifle and a grenade. PD took over the scene at that point and the FD took up. Another fast stop by the EOFD and no injuries were reported. | |
