OCTOBER 20,2008

Bloomfield dispatched Engine 2 on a Still Alarm to investigate smoke in the area. Around the same time the calls starting coming into Bloomfield and East Orange reporting a fire at 58 Westcott Street in East Orange at the Bloomfield Town Line. On arrival heavy fire was showing in the rear from Sides B,C, and D of an occupied 2.5 story wood frame dwelling 20x40 with an exposure problem on Side D. Exposure lines and attack lines were stretched along with Truck 1 Ladder Pipe to knock down the heavy fire. DC Higgins placed the fire under control in 20 minutes. Units continued to operate with an interior attack to perform searches and knock down pockets of fire on all floors. No injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation by the East Orange Fire Department and the Essex County Prosecutors Arson Task Force.
