STOLEN CAR CRASHES INTO
NEWARK FIREHOUSE

Around 04:45 hours, Engine Company 18 members were woken by a loud crash
in front of the firehouse.

Upon further investigation, Engine 18 radioed Dispatch and advised that a stolen car had crashed into the front of the firehouse and the vehicle was blocking the bay of the apparatus.

Both airbags were deployed in the driver compartment with heavy damage to the front end but all occupants managed to flee the scene prior to FD arrival.

NPD arrived and had the vehicle removed.
A HAZMAT Level 1 was transmitted for a fluid spill resulting from the crash.

Engine 18 was back in service in 90 minutes.
