January 26,2009 Newark Fire Department responded to 121 Schley Street on a report of a house fire. On arrival of Engine Co.18 heavy fire was showing from two 2 story wood frames. Heavy fire involved 121 Schley with extension to Exposure B. BC4 arrived and transmitted the Signal 11 putting everyone to work. Ladder Company 5 was ordered to bring in a ground ladder to perform ventilation due to the fire buildings being on a dead end. Interior lines and exposure line in between the houses had the fire knocked down quickly. Ladder 5 positioned the truck to ladder the B exposure to complete overhaul of the upper floor exterior. All units were up in an hour from the job. Newark Arson Squad was requested to the scene. EMS transported one Firefighter to the "U". This was the third Signal 11 Fire in 5 hours. NFD battled an All Hands Fire on Central Avenue in a pallet yard involving an out building followed by a fire in an OMD on Ferry Street.
